Where flight bookings fall apart
Someone searching for a flight rarely abandons over the fare. They abandon because the calendar hid a cheaper date one column over, the seat map crawled on a phone mid-commute, the baggage rules appeared only after they had committed to a price, or the ancillaries pushed the total past what they had in mind. A booking engine reports the tickets you sold. It says nothing about the searches that ended at the seat map. Air360 records the whole path from first search to confirmation, so an abandoned booking has a step attached to it.
What airline teams do with it
Build the funnel across search, fare selection, passenger details, ancillaries and payment, find the step losing the most sessions, then watch the replays behind it. The answers are usually unglamorous - a date grid that needs two taps on iOS, a passport field that rejects a valid format without saying why, a fare-rules link that opens a new tab nobody comes back from. Because interactions are captured automatically, you can compare direct bookings against OTA traffic, or one route against another, without deciding in advance what to tag.
Common questions
Why do travellers abandon flight bookings before payment?
Most bookings are lost between fare selection and payment, where passenger details, seat choice and baggage options add several steps. Air360 captures every click, scroll and error across that flow automatically, so you can build a funnel over the real booking path and see which step loses people. From any drop-off you can open the session replays behind it and watch what actually happened instead of inferring it from aggregate numbers.
How do I see where the booking flow loses people?
Funnel analysis measures a defined path such as search, results, fare, passenger details and payment, and shows the drop-off at each step. User journeys show the opposite view, the routes travellers actually take, including backtracking between dates and destinations before they commit. Used together they tell you both how far people get and what they did instead of continuing.
Can I compare behaviour by device, market or campaign?
Yes. Funnels and journeys can be filtered by device, country, region, traffic source, campaign, and whether the visitor is new or returning. Comparing mobile against desktop on the same booking step is often where the answer is on airline sites, because the passenger details form behaves very differently on a phone.
How do I tell a design problem from a technical one?
Air360 monitors Core Web Vitals and JavaScript errors in real time alongside behavioural data. When a booking step drops off sharply you can check whether the page was slow or throwing errors for those sessions before you redesign anything. Page analysis produces an automatic per-page report covering engagement, conversion and technical performance in one place.
Do we have to tag every step before we can analyse it?
No. The Air360 pixel is 53kb, served via CDN, and captures interactions automatically without manual tagging or code changes on individual elements. That matters on a booking engine, where the flow changes often and re-tagging after each release is where most measurement setups fall behind.
